Well, we made it, we have the house all unpacked and are working on making Texas home. The 20+ hour drive is always an adventure, luckily the kids are really good in the car and make the drive bearable. A few events from the drive to document for the memory book....Savannah had a really bad cough and was hacking up a lung non-stop. It didn't bother us while driving, but when we finally got checked into the hotel in Abilene and settled into bed, and she was still coughing past 1:00am, Travis and I finally decided we had had enough. We gathered up all the extra pillows in the hotel room and made a comfy bed in the bathtub for Savy with her sleeping bag then shut the bathroom door. She didn't love it at first, but soon enough all of us were sound asleep!
Then on Sunday, Trav kept saying how much Colston's feet stunk while C was taking a nap in the car. The boy had never really had stinky feet before, so I kept ignoring Trav and his sensitive smeller. We were about an hour and a half from our new home, when Colston woke up and we stopped for gas. That's when we realized it wasn't his stinky feet, but that he had a total blowout. How does a kid nap for two hours, with that business going on downstairs? (Fast forward to the next week, when our whole family gets stricken with a nasty flu...not fun while unpacking.)
Anyway, we stripped the poor guy down, threw his clothes away and hosed him down at the gas station.
Since we got here, it has been hard to get used to the unbearable heat. It has been around 105* every day. The heat is record breaking with over 50+ days of 100* weather. We try not to be out much in the afternoon, but have been hitting up our neighborhood pool quite a bit in the mornings until lunchtime.
Things are going good so far, only a few emotional breakdowns by me so far. :) Trav did good on picking out our house, and I am loving all the new projects I'm scheming up for the place. We went to our ward for the first time on Sunday and have met some really cute families. There are not a ton of kids on our street, which the kids aren't used to, so they are very excited to start school in a few weeks.

we are trying to get used to the heat too! We are going to plan an Austin visit soon (david's sister lives in south Austin) and we were hoping to maybe meet up with all the Fitches on our way down there. I'll FB you when we figure out when we might be coming! :)
I am glad you guys are getting settled! i hear you on the heat! We are dying too! Just think amazing winters! Good luck with getting the kids in school! I hope they love the new area!
I am still laughing at the hose down Travis gave Colston! That is a riot! Happy Birthday again to Bosty! Can't wait to see y'all for the baptism!
That picture is priceless! I am so glad everything is going well for you and the fam! Just think...this winter you'll be enjoying great weather, while we are getting snowed in. Best of luck enduring that heat. :)
